Being a parent isn’t easy, and there is no perfect instruction manual to teach us how to be parents. We have guides and ideas - such as an excellent book by Ellen White called Child Guidance -  but sometimes we are still caught in between striving for perfection and having to hand out punishment. How can we find a balance in our parenting styles? Many times parents will find themselves in familiar roles. One parent will play the good cop, and the other will be the tough, bad cop. This intensity can be overwhelming and give the wrong impression to our offspring. We cannot skip out on the joy, the fun, and the love in a parent-child relationship.

This seminar with Scott Ritsema will open your eyes to the balance we need to strike for our families. Though we play the authoritarian role and are the rule makers and disciplinarians in the family, we also need to learn some lessons ourselves. Being a Mother or Father is more than just teaching the Bible and having our children blindly absorb everything. We also need to give our time, hearts, and attention to our children. We need to listen to our family members in times of grief, stress, and trials. When a parent builds a relationship of trust and openness, a child will know to go to you as their confidant and in times of need and trouble. Let’s learn about the vital balance we must have in our family relationships for a spiritually healthy home.
