Benefits of Memorizing Scripture

What are the benefits of memorizing Scripture? We see the spoken Word of God is very important. In the beginning, Creation was made through the Word of God. He spoke and there was existence. Memorization was a given in the Old Testament time; the Jews believed that the best thing we can do is to have the Word of God written in our hearts.
